Using the fabric-clad BMW GINA car as a starting point, this studio focused on applying concepts behind new technology in car design to the architecture of suburbia.

I used the existing infrastructure of U.S. suburban house construction as my foray into the project, and began to explore how making house frames kinetic with various types of hinges could dramatically open up possibilities for unprecedented flexibility in everyday living spaces.

Using the shotgun house as a starting point, I developed a new kind of architecture that can fold and expand off a base core, allowing for efficiency in thermal mass and use of space. My final presentation showed a catalog for this new kind of 'Folding Architecture,' where inhabitants can customize the design of their now-spatially-flexible homes.
