RETHINKING THE LIBRARY

With Architecture Research Office

2012 - 2016

Through a number of recent projects at ARO, I have been working directly with leading research universities to rethink the use and design of their existing library spaces.

Directly relating to my thesis research on the future of spaces for knowledge exchange, many schools are reconsidering the spaces once thought to be simple physical text repositories as new areas for ideas, invention, and collaborative learning. Instead of housing books, these spaces can now be a primary host of person-to-person and person-to-information exchange. The library is as relevant as ever, as its function and design are at a critical junction of re-invention.
